Emily A. Hippen
Emily Hippen focuses her practice on the acquisition, disposition, development and financing of commercial real estate projects located throughout the United States and the Caribbean. Emily successfully guides transactions from the land acquisition stage to ultimate disposition by combining her transactional expertise with her strong relationships with colleagues in other practice areas and attorneys in local markets. Emily understands that her clients’ successes may revolve around tight time frames, and she prides herself on being highly responsive and focused on her clients’ needs.
Emily has particular expertise in the area of real estate finance, frequently representing both lenders and owners with their construction, bridge and term financing needs. Having represented both lenders and owners in loan transactions, she understands the underlying objectives of both parties, and she can quickly identify the core issues at hand and present a mutually beneficial solution for both parties.
Before joining the firm, Emily was an associate at an international law firm, where she focused her practice on modifications to both performing and troubled loans ranging in size from several million dollars to several hundred million dollars. Emily’s previous work included significant exposure to U.S. commercial mortgage-backed securities collateralized by multifamily, retail, hospitality, industrial and office properties.
Prior to practicing law, Emily worked with a globally diversified asset management organization, where she serviced all aspects of a multibillion-dollar portfolio of securitized commercial mortgage-backed loans. She also collaborated with master and special servicers and operating advisors on complex real estate transactions similar to those that she handles in her current practice. Emily was also a voting member of the organization’s servicing investment committee. Emily is a graduate of Drake University’s selective Career Opportunity Program, having completed the majority of law school while balancing a full-time career.
Emily is currently a member of the firm’s Compensation Committee. She is a past chair of the firm’s Wellness Committee as well as past co-chair of the firm’s Attorney Development Committee.
