Colorado Golf Club is one of the nation’s premier residential golf communities. Located in Douglas County, Colorado, the community is comprised of 1,700 acres, 170 custom home lots, and a golf course offering stunning views of the Front Range. After lot sales slowed in the Great Recession, Arendale Holdings, the master developer of the project, developed a proposal to add new residential units to the community. That proposal included the “Village,” a community of up to 56 homes located across the street from the golf course’s clubhouse, designed to nestle into an existing valley and to provide walkable access to the community’s world-class amenities. The project required relocating a major county right-of-way, and there was significant community engagement in the approval process. Otten Johnson was engaged to provide real estate and land use counsel to the master developer, and after a five-year entitlement process involving community outreach and coordination of several governmental agencies, succeeded in obtaining zoning approval for the project in late 2019. Otten Johnson continues to assist Arendale with its efforts to build on the strong legacy of Colorado Golf Club.
