Hospitality and Resorts

Otten Johnson provides a wide range of services to some of the most respected resorts and hotels in the United States. Our real estate, land use, litigation and corporate attorneys advise property owners, operators, franchisors, franchisees, investors, lenders and financial institutions on legal and business issues. The hospitality and resorts team has served clients across North America, on projects ranging from small boutique hotels to large complex ski and golf resorts. Our team has worked with most of the major brands of hotels in the United States, as well as many luxury independent hotels.

We see our role as business advisors, bringing over 25 years of experience in hospitality/resort development to each client and project. The acquisition of a hotel or resort is as much an acquisition of an operating business as it is an acquisition of a real estate asset. We have assisted many owners, operators and franchisees in the successful transfer of both real property and business operations.  We also have extensive experience negotiating management agreements and advising on operational issues that arise between owners and operators.

Having represented buyers, sellers, financial institutions and investors in many complex deals, we understand the concerns and perspectives of every side, anticipating issues before they arise so we can best advise our clients throughout the process.
