Overview

Mike Villano's primary areas of practice are real estate, real estate finance, business and transactional law. Mike has represented clients in a wide range of real estate transactions, including commercial, multifamily and land purchase and sale transactions, leasing and financing transactions, and residential, commercial, golf course and mixed-use development and redevelopment projects.

Mike's experience extends to complex title and survey issues, adverse possession law, quiet title actions and complex foreclosure actions. He is experienced in commercial, office and retail property acquisition and financing, including extensive experience in real estate joint ventures. Mike's joint venture practice has included representing project sponsors, equity partners, land partners and joint equity partners in a wide range of transaction structures, including investment fund joint ventures and specific market segment portfolio funds. He has represented both lenders and borrowers in a wide variety of financing transactions, including carryback, construction, permanent, mezzanine, portfolio, borrowing base and Shari'ah compliant financing.

Mike has represented numerous residential land developers and home builders, including national, regional and local developers and builders of single family, multifamily and mixed-use communities. His practice has included the platting, development and sale of both condominium projects and planned communities. In addition to his legal expertise, Mike's background includes experience in the practical aspects of the construction industry.

In addition to his core real estate practice, Mike is experienced in corporate, tax and transactional law, particularly in the formation and structuring of privately held entities, including tax exempt and nonprofit entities. Mike has also represented clients in asset, stock, partnership and entity purchase and sale transactions.
