Overview
Vicki Hellmer's practice is focused on commercial real estate financing, including construction and permanent loans and workouts. She represents both lenders and borrowers, on loans involving all types of real estate—multi-family housing, mixed-use, hotel, office (including medical office), residential condominiums, and major retail projects. Vicki has also represented clients in the acquisition and disposition of properties, and the structuring of real estate joint ventures.
Vicki represented the developer of a large mixed-use development in Colorado in connection with various financings, including a pre-development loan, several construction loans, permanent financing, and "green bond" financing, as well as matters relating to the installation of solar energy facilities at the project and the structuring of a joint venture for further development of the project.
Vicki also has a background in bankruptcy law that can be traced back to her previous career. Before attending law school, Vicki worked for Kaiser Steel Corporation as that company was emerging from Chapter 11 reorganization proceedings. She handled bankruptcy claims administration for Kaiser Steel, and acquired firsthand knowledge of the range of legal and logistical issues involved in bankruptcy cases.
Vicki is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, as well as the Associate Development Committee (which she chaired from 2000 to 2009) and the Technology Committee.
