Amy Hansen assists real estate owners and developers in connection with their acquisition, development, leasing and sale activities in the Rocky Mountain region. Amy routinely represents clients in purchase and sale transactions, including representation of both buyers and sellers of real estate portfolios involving multifamily properties and medical office buildings in multiple states.

Amy is particularly well-known for her work with developers on the creation of governance structures for resort, transit-oriented and other mixed-use projects, as well as master planned communities. She has developed particular expertise in the Colorado Common Interest Ownership Act (CCIOA). Amy often develops form documents for use by developers in the sale of individual residential condominium units and homes to consumers, and represents land developers in their sales of finished lots to homebuilders.

In the resort context, in addition to her CCIOA work, Amy has assisted clients with respect to the formation and operation of private recreation and golf clubs. She has also developed form rental management agreements. Amy has represented clients with respect to license agreements for branded residences projects.

In both urban and suburban markets, Amy has helped real estate owners convert office and industrial properties into commercial condominiums, not only preparing governance documents but also addressing issues that arise with existing tenants in connection with the conversion.

Recently, Amy’s real estate development expertise has been put to use by the firm’s lending clients with respect to their REO properties. In this context, she advises banks with respect to CCIOA compliance issues, retention of development rights for subsequent transfer to the purchaser of the REO assets, and other development-related issues.

Amy serves on the firm’s Executive Committee as well as the PR/Marketing Committee. Amy is also a frequent contributor to the firm’s real estate blog, www.rockymountainrealestatelaw.com, where her posts cover CCIOA and other real estate related topics.
